The 68th Special Feature of Electrochemistry
“Development of Electrochemical Measurement Techniques and Devices to Understand Biological Functions”
(Electrochemistry to Understand Biological Functions)
Electrochemistry Editorial Board
Bioengineering Research Group
The Electrochemical Society of Japan
The field of bioelectrochemistry is expanding from basic research on essential understandings of life phenomena to applied research such as the development of biomolecular measurement devices, sensors using redox enzymes, and fuel cells. In this context, various analytical techniques are being developed, such as monitoring cellular dynamics by electrochemical measurement of a single cell and construction of sensing devices. Then fundamental technologies that lead to new understanding of biological functions are being created. Therefore, we are planning the special feature titled “Development of electrochemical measurement techniques and devices to understand biological functions”. We look forward to receiving submissions of interesting research results that will help us to understand the essence of life through electrochemistry.
This special feature was proposed by the Bioengineering Research Group composed of comprehensive papers requested by guest editors from the Research Group and articles, communication, notes, etc. submitted from the ECSJ and related group members. We welcome submissions from a wide range of fields, including new ideas and proposals for measurement and analysis methods in the field of bioelectrochemistry, electrochemical understanding of biological functions, and the construction of devices based on such understanding.
